The work behind Appalore was shaped in environments where research had to operate on real data, changing physical systems, and practical constraints. The recurring challenge was not simply to build capable models, but to represent complex environments clearly and make their outputs legible enough to guide decisions.
That foundation includes work at Yahoo Research; Uber ATG, focused on autonomous vehicles; and Aurora Innovation, focused on self-driving trucks. Across those settings, the team worked in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), including computer vision, perception, prediction, planning, GPU inference, and large-scale data systems.
